On Tuesday, Ultimate Gaming is expected to unveil the nation’s first poker playing website that permits really money wagering, at least for players in Nevada.
Poker players in states outside Nevada won’t be able to place bets on the website. Not yet, at least. In order to wager money, players at UltimatePoker.com will have to provide a Nevada address and the Social Security number, the Associated Press notes.
Online poker games with real betting flourished a decade ago before the U.S. Department of Justice cracked down on the games in 2011, cutting off U.S. access to international gaming websites.
However, in the last few months, three states have moved to legalize online gambling. Nevada became the first state to permit the practice in February.
Just a week later, New Jersey adopted a measure to legalize online gambling, becoming the third state to do so. Delaware had legalized Internet gaming days earlier.
In March, 888, a company based on Gibraltar received a license from the Nevada Gaming Commission to host online gaming in the state.
