Travelers who like the feel of paper-bound guidebooks in their hands can rest easy. The popular Frommer’s series of travel guides will live on in print.
Just weeks after Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) announced that it would end the print editions of the popular guides, the Internet search giant announced that it has sold the brand back to its namesake, Arthur Frommer. The travel icon says that he will publish the guide books in both print and electronic formats, PC Magazine notes.
Publisher John Wiley & Sons sold the Frommers’ brand to Google last year along with several other travel titles for about $22 million.
Google did not disclose the terms of its sale of the brand back to Frommer.
Last month, Google announced that it would shut down its content aggregator Google Reader in July.
Shares of Google fell almost 2% in Friday afternoon trading.
