The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) will not have to pay an actress damages for disclosing her age.
Huong Hoang sued the website in 2011 claiming that she lost potential roles in Hollywood movies after the IMDB, which is owned by Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), posted her age in 2008. On Thursday, a Seattle jury ruled in the website’s favor, the Daily News notes.
IMDB had contended that it was protected under the First Amendment for publishing facts. The websites lawyers also noted the Hoang failed to present evidence of financial losses due to the information on IMDB.
The actress, who appeared in classics including Hoodrats 2: Hoodrat Warriors and Gingerdead Man 3: Saturday Night Cleaver, had demanded $1 million in damages.
Shares of Amazon dipped slightly in Friday morning trading.
