Superstar rap artist Kanye West is being sued for violation of copyright.
The star’s song “Gold Digger” — which was at one time the most downloaded song ever — allegedly sampled the song “Bumpin’ Bus Stop,” AllHipHop reports.
West is being sued — along with several record labels — by Trena Steward and Lorenzo Pryor, the children of “Bumpin’ Bus Stop” songwriter David Pryor. Pryor recorded the song with his group Thunder & Lightning in 1974.
The lawsuit alleges that West and the labels are guilty of “illegal copyright infringement scheme and criminal enterprise involving the unauthorized, willful sampling of plaintiffs original copyrighted music on a massive scale.” It requests a jury trial to satisfy the complaint.
