It wasn’t your typical Sunday at a San Jose, Calif., Walmart (NYSE:WMT).
Shoppers scattered and fled as a red coupe slammed through the store’s front entrance. A man emerged from the vehicle, which made it between 10 and 20 feet inside the store, and started physically assaulting people, the Los Angeles Times notes.
Some shoppers attempted to restrain the man until cops arrived. The unidentified man was ultimately arrested. Police said they did not know what motivated the incident.
Only one person inside the store was transported to the hospital, but three others were treated at the scene.
The man remains in custody, undergoing psychological assessment and drug tests.
Last month a Massachusetts woman claimed that she purchased an Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad from a local Walmart that turned out to be a non-functional fake.
Despite the bizarre attack, shares of Walmart climbed more than 1% in Monday trading.
