The list of celebrities that have been “swatted” now includes American Idol‘s Ryan Seacrest.
On Wednesday, police received a fake 911 call and rushed to the entertainer’s Beverly Hills home. However, authorities found no one in danger at the residence and quickly announced via Twitter that there were “no signs of trouble,” the Los Angeles Times notes.
The prank followed the swatting of British comedian and TV celebrity Russell Brand’s Hollywood Hills home on Monday. A number of other media personalities have recently fallen victim to the prank including American Idol creator Simon Cowell, actor Tom Cruise, singers Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake and Chris Brown and reality-TV celebrity family the Kardashians.
In fact, Seacrest had interviewed Russell Brand about the incident at the U.K. performer’s home on his radio show just hours before his own home was swatted.
Swatting has become a major irritant for Los Angeles police, who are trying to crack down on the fake calls.
Earlier this week, popular televangelist Joel Osteen was victimized by a fake online report that he had denounced the Bible and was abandoning Christianity.
