Yet Another Carnival Cruise Ship Loses Power at Sea

Carnival Corp. NYSE:CCL[1]For a brief while last night, Carnival (NYSE:CCL[2]) had another ship lose power while at sea.

Last night’s power outage — which lasted 12 minutes — was caused by a mechanical error on the Carnival Ecstasy, USA TODAY reports[3].

The ship was off the coast of Florida when the problem occurred and was fixed. While earlier media reports indicated an engine fire, the company says that’s not true. Earlier this year, an engine room fire knocked out power on the Carnival Triumph and set the ship adrift.

In this case, no services on board the ship were disrupted. The 2,000-passenger ship returned to its home at Port Canaveral, Fla., on schedule this morning.
