Energy Amps Up the Payouts: 17 Companies Increasing Dividends

Companies Increasing Dividends[1]The dividend-increase train rolled on this week, as a pharmaceutical giant led a list of companies that included several utilities, an automotive retailing giant, and an insurance provider in raising dividends for investors.

In all, 17 companies made it onto our list of Companies Increasing Dividends[2] list this week. (Note: All dividend yields are as of May 10.)

Water and wastewater utility American Water Works (NYSE:AWK[3]) raised its quarterly dividend 12% to 28 cents per share, payable June 3 to shareholders of record as of May 24. This is the fifth consecutive annual increase in AWK’s dividend.
AWK Dividend Yield: 2.67%

Global medical equipment company Baxter International (NYSE:BAX[4]) raised its quarterly dividend 9% to 49 cents per share, payable July 7 to shareholders of record as of June 7.
BAX Dividend Yield: 2.78%

Internet access and protocol services provider Cogent Communications (NASDAQ:CCOI[5]) raised its quarterly dividend 8.3% to 13 cents per share, payable June 13 to shareholders of record as of May 31.
CCOI Dividend Yield: 1.77%

Insurance holding company CNO Financial (NYSE:CNO[6]) raised its quarterly dividend 50% to 3 cents per share, payable June 24 to shareholders of record as of June 10.
CNO Dividend Yield: 0.67%

Data-center REIT DuPont Fabros Technology (NYSE:DFT[7]) raised its quarterly dividend 25% to 20 cents per share. DFT did not provide payout or ex-dividend dates.
DFT Dividend Yield:
3.06%

Energy exploration and production company Energy XXI (NASDAQ:EXXI[8]) raised its quarterly dividend 71% to 12 cents per share, payable June 13 to shareholders of record as of May 31.
EXXI Dividend Yield: 1.98%

Bank information processing solutions provider Jack Henry & Associates (NASDAQ:JKHY[9]) raised its quarterly dividend 54% to 20 cents per share, payable May 30 to shareholders of record as of May 17.
JKHY Dividend Yield: 1.69%

Safety products manufacturer and distributor Mine Safety Appliances (NYSE:MSA[10]) raised its quarterly dividend 7% to 30 cents per share, payable June 10 to shareholders of record as of May 30.
MSA Dividend Yield: 2.4%

Automotive retailer Penske Automotive (NYSE:PAG[11]) raised its quarterly dividend 7% to 15 cents per share, payable June 3 to shareholders of record as of May 20.
PAG Dividend Yield: 1.84%

Timberland owner Plum Creek Timber (NYSE:PCL[12]) raised its dividend 5% to 44 cents per share, payable May 31 to shareholders of record as of May 17.
PCL Dividend Yield: 3.37%

Specialty formulated chemical products producer Quaker Chemical (NYSE:KWR[13]) raised its quarterly dividend 2% to 25 cents per share, payable July 31 to shareholders of record as of July 17. This is the 38th consecutive year that Quaker has increased its dividend.
KWR Dividend Yield: 1.58%

Funeral services provider Service Corporation International (NYSE:SCI[14]) raised its quarterly dividend 17% to 7 cents per share, payable June 28 to shareholders of record on June 14.
SCI Dividend Yield: 1.65%

Commercial mortgage loan service provider Starwood Properties (NASDAQ:STWD[15]) raised its quarterly dividend 4.5% to 46 cents per share, payable July 15 to shareholders of record as of June 28.
STWD Dividend Yield: 6.59%

Industrial real estate owner and operator Terrano Realty (NYSE:TRNO[16]) raised its quarterly dividend 8% to 13 cents per share, payable July 19 to shareholders of record as of July 5.
TRNO Dividend Yield: 2.66%

Printer technologies company TransAct Technologies (NASDAQ:TACT[17]) raised its quarterly dividend 16.7% to 7 cents per share, payable June 13 to shareholders of record on May 30.
TACT Dividend Yield: 3.59%

Railcar and railcar parts manufacturer Trinity Industries (NYSE:TRN[18]) raised its quarterly dividend 18% to 13 cents per share, payable July 31 to shareholders of record as of July 15.
TRN Dividend Yield: 1.23%

Oil and natural gas producer W&T Offshore (NYSE:WTI[19]) raised its quarterly dividend 12.5% to 9 cents per share, payable June 4 to shareholders of record as of May 24.
WTI Dividend Yield: 2.64%
