Financials Pay It Back: 16 Companies Increasing Dividends

This week saw a number of industry leaders dig into their wallets to provide fatter dividends for shareholders, including a notable showing from a couple credit card providers.

Companies Increasing Dividends[1]All told, 16 companies made it onto our Companies Increasing Dividends[2] list this week. (Note: All dividend yields are as of May 3.)

Medical, industrial and specialty gasses supplier Airgas (NYSE:ARG[3]) raised its quarterly dividend 20% to 48 cents per share, payable June 28 to shareholders of record June 14.
ARG Dividend Yield: 1.99%

Financial services company and credit card provider American Express (NYSE:AXP[4]) raised its quarterly dividend 15% to 23 cents per share, payable Aug. 19 to shareholders of record as of July 5.
AXP Dividend Yield: 1.31%

Diversified financial services holding company Capital One (NYSE:COF[5]) raised its quarterly dividend 500% to 30 cents per share, payable May 23 to shareholders of record as of May 13.
COF Dividend Yield: 2.04%

Healthcare services company Cardinal Health (NYSE:CAH[6]) raised its quarterly dividend 10% to 30.25 cents per share, payable July 15 to shareholders of record as of July 1.
CAH Dividend Yield: 2.59%

Membership warehouse retailer Costco (NASDAQ:COST[7]) raised its quarterly dividend 12.7% to 31 cents per share payable May 31 to shareholders of record at the close of business on May 17.
COST Dividend Yield: 1.13%

Michigan-based diversified energy holding company DTE Energy (NYSE:DTE[8]) raised its dividend 5.6% to 65.5 cents per share, payable July 15 to shareholders of record as of June 17.
DTE Dividend Yield: 3.61%

Technology giant IBM (NYSE:IBM[9]) raised its quarterly dividend 12% to 95 cents per share, payable June 10 to shareholders of record May 10. This is IBM’s 18th consecutive year of dividend increases.
IBM Dividend Yield: 1.86%

Asset manager Invesco (NYSE:IVZ[10]) raised its quarterly dividend 30% to 22.5 cents per share, payable June 17 to shareholders of record as of May 17.
IVZ Dividend Yield: 2.76%

Work force solutions and services company Manpowergroup (NYSE:MAN[11]) raised its quarterly dividend 7% to 46 cents per share, payable June 14 to shareholders of record as of June 3.
MAN Dividend Yield: 1.71%

Advanced engineered materials manufacturer Materion (NYSE:MTRN[12]), formerly known as Brush Engineered Material, raised its quarterly dividend 7% to 8 cents per share, payable June 4 to shareholders of record as of May 17.
MTRN Dividend Yield: 1.2%

Closed-end investment management firm Nexpoint Credit Strategies Fund (NYSE:NHF[13]) raised its quarterly dividend 7% to 45 cents per share, payable May 31 to shareholders of record as of May 28.
NHF Dividend Yield: 6.75%

New York-based commercial real estate REIT Northstar Realty Finance (NYSE:NRF[14]) raised its quarterly dividend 90% to 19 cents per share, payable May 17 to shareholders of record as of May 13.
NRF Dividend Yield: 7.68%

Global food and beverage company PepsiCo (NYSE:PEP[15]) raised its quarterly dividend 6% to 56.75 cents per share, payable June 28 to shareholders of record as of June 7. This marks the 41st consecutive annual increase in the company’s dividend.
PEP Dividend Yield: 2.73%

Property and casualty insurance underwriter RLI (NYSE:RLI[16]) raised its quarterly dividend 6.25% to 34 cents per share, payable June 20 to shareholders of record as of May 31. This is the 38th consecutive year that RLI has increased its dividend.
RLI Dividend Yield: 1.86%

Retail farm and ranch store operator Tractor Supply (NASDAQ:TSCO[17]) raised its quarterly dividend 30% to 26 cents per share, payable June 4 to shareholders of record as of May 20.
TSCO Dividend Yield: 0.94%

Energy products and services company UGI (NYSE:UGI[18]) raised its quarterly dividend 4.6% to 28.25 cents per share, payable July 1 to shareholders of record as of June 14. This is the 26th year in a row that UGI has upped its payout.
UGI Dividend Yield: 2.77%
