Amazon (AMZN) has taken the wraps off design plans for a new office complex in Seattle, showing off a sleek vertical building with giant glass domes at its base.
The spherical structures will house garden-like areas, featuring mature trees. The domes will be constructed along with a new 37-story skyscraper. Amazon says the green domes will provide a park-like setting for its employees to relax and socialize in, GeekWire notes.
The five-story domes will enclose 65,000 square feet of space featuring areas catering to distinct botanical zones. The entire project, which still must be approved by city officials, is expected to require six years to complete.
Amazon isn’t the only tech company planning futuristic offices. Apple‘s (AAPL) planned new Cupertino, California, headquarters is a glass-walled ring that some have described as looking like a spaceship.
Shares of Amazon fell more than 1% in Wednesday morning trading.
