On Wednesday, Disney‘s (NYSE:DIS) software division, Disney Interactive, debuted a new app that allows parents to share family photos and videos.
The app, dubbed Story, groups pictures and videos into narrative collections, permitting users to add captions and text and choose between layouts. The “stories” created by the app can be uploaded social media websites like Facebook (NASDAQ:FB), Variety notes.
Story is currently available for a free download on Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices through the App Store. While the app currently is ad-free, the company is looking at the possibility of adding sponsors at a later date.
Television advertising will promote the new app.
Earlier this week, Disney announced a partnership with video game maker Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:EA) to develop new computer games based on George Lucas’ Star Wars films.
Shares of Disney were flat in Thursday morning trading.
