The Orlando Florida theme park is planning to introduce MagicBands, electronic wristbands that will allow visitors to pass through turnstiles into the park, access attractions and purchase items at concession stands in the park. The bands were unveiled by Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs at this week’s All Things Digital conference in California, the Los Angeles Times notes.

The wristbands also permit users to alert park characters to a child’s identify, so they can greet him or her by name.

In the future, the wristbands could allow park visitors to interact with digital elements during their time in the park, including video games.

Disney recently announced that it will debut a new animated Star Wars series on its Disney Channel and Disney DX channels some time before the release of the first new Star Wars film in 2015.

Shares of Disney rose slightly in Friday morning trading.
