Karen Kaplan was just named CEO of Boston-based ad agency Hill Holliday, which works with big-name clients like Bank of America (BAC), Manulife Financial‘s (MFC) John Hancock division, Dunkin Donuts (DNKN), TJX Brands (TJX), Novartis (NVS) and Brinker International‘s (EAT) Chili’s.
If you’re not impressed, you should be. Kaplan joined Hill Holliday over three decades ago as a receptionist with no background in the industry. Since then, she has climbed the ladder … now, all the way to the top.
Last fall, Ad Age named her one of the most influential women in advertising. Plus, the website also reported that her “tight relationships with clients are a boon to the shop.” Business Insider also chose Kaplan as one of the “30 Most Powerful Women in Advertising.”
Kaplan is taking over for Mike Sheehan. The former-CEO said that “there is no one who has worked harder or who is better positioned to lead Hill Holliday to new levels of growth and success.”
