Collins — the first openly gay athlete in any of the four major U.S. sports — is responding to rumors about an impending book deal, the Associated Press reports.
In response to a story in which three publishers — all anonymous — claimed they’d been contacted about a book deal, Collins tweeted, “I have no current plans to write any books. Sorry to disappoint my literary loving fans.” In a statement, Collins’ agent also denies that any book deal is in the works.
“Right now my focus is preparing for Jason’s upcoming free agency and securing the best opportunity for him to continue his career,” agent Arn Tellum said.
The report said that Collins was working on the book with Sports Illustrated‘s Franz Lidz, who broke the original story, and that he would be represented by agent Kristine Dahl of International Creative Management.
