A Papa Johns (PZZA) customer is calling for “better integrity and better people” after receiving an offensive voicemail from his deliveryperson.
After paying for his pizza and a 21% tip, the customer received a voicemail from the person who had delivered his pizza, filled with offensive and derogatory remarks. In the message, the deliveryperson was talking to another employee, and seemed to be unaware that he was being recorded. The customer posted the voicemail online, adding:
This is highly offensive, derogatory, and ignorant. I am appalled that there were no managers or supervisors (the managers and/ supervisors may even be the ones speaking throughout the recording…who knows) from stopping this kind of conversation in the work place. … I am disgusted entirely by this conversation. Instead of focusing on “better ingredients” and “better pizza”, they should prioritize “better integrity” and “better people” on the top of their “to-do list.”
John Schnatter, the chairman and CEO of Papa John’s responded to the incident on Facebook, saying, “I am extremely concerned to learn about the reprehensible language used by two former employees in one of our restaurants. Their thinking and actions defy both my personal and the company’s values, and everything for which this company stands.” Schnatter stated that the two employees involved in the incident were immediately fired, and that he had personally reached out to the customer.
