Owners of a number of popular Ford (F) vehicles may have to wait until September for the company to make a critical repair.
The second-largest American auto-maker said on Monday that it has recalled 465,000 Ford Fusion, Explorer, Taurus, Flex and Interceptor Utility vehicles due to a defective fuel delivery component inside gas tanks that could leak, leaving the vehicles vulnerable to fires. Lincoln MKT, MKZ and MKS vehicles are also covered by the recall. Only 2013 vehicle models are affected, Reuters notes.
The problem has generated 600 complains so far. Ford said that no fires or injuries have been attributed to the defect so far. Ford says it won’t have enough replacement components to fix all of the vehicles until September.
Of the affected vehicles, 420,000 were sold in North America
In March, Ford recalled about 230,000 minivans due to potentially dangerous rust accumulation in rear wheel wells.
Late last year, the company also recalled 89,000 Escape and Fusion vehicles over a risk of engine fires.
Ford shares fell almost 1% in Monday morning trading.
