Known to millions of web devotees as Grumpy Cat, the feline’s actual name is Tardar Sauce. Grumpy Cat’s sour expressions earned legions of fans after her owner posted images of her facial expressions accompanied by funny captions online. The cat’s Google‘s (GOOG) YouTube channel now has 120,000 subscribers and has garnered 20 million views, Deadline Hollywood notes.
That sort of public attention has led her manager — yes, the cat has a manger — to begin putting together a deal to create a film based around the cranky cat, with an actor providing its presumably cantankerous voice.
Even without Hollywood, Grumpy Cat is already raking in the big bucks. Grumpy Cat-branded products are on sale at Wal-Mart (WMT) and she is currently appearing a number of Internet promotions for Nestle’s (NSRGY) Friskies cat food. The feline’s likeness has been licensed by a number of other companies.
Voted “Meme of the Year” at the 2013 Webby Awards, Grumpy Cat is here to stay.
