The Iconic Face of Men’s Wearhouse Gets the Boot

fancy suit greed 630[1]Men’s Wearhouse (MW[2]) made a surprising move Wednesday when it fired company founder, George Zimmer.[3] While Zimmer stepped down as CEO of The Men’s Wearhouse in 2011, he still was active in the company as its executive chairman.

And Zimmer sounds unhappy.

“Over the past several months I have expressed my concerns to the Board about the direction the company is currently heading. Instead of fostering the kind of dialogue in the Boardroom that has, in part, contributed to our success, the Board has inappropriately chosen to silence my concerns by terminating me as an executive officer,” Zimmer told ABCNews[4].

Zimmer had long been the face of Men’s Wearhouse, having appeared in numerous commercials[5] over the years with his well-known line, “You’re going to like the way you look. I guarantee it.”

Zimmer’s removal from the company doesn’t mean we won’t still see him in commercials, as Men’s Wearhouse still own the rights[6] to Zimmer’s image.
