While big-box retailer Walmart (WMT) is best known for its giant warehouses and low prices, it’s actually the largest grocer and seller of produce in the U.S.
And now, it’s the largest grocer and seller of fresh produce.
On Monday, the company announced that it’s offering a money-back guarantee on its fruits and vegetable. According to Reuters, “Walmart customers not satisfied with the produce can bring their receipt back to the store for a refund.”
Of course, some competing grocery-only chains like Safeway (SWY) already offer such a guarantee. But the company’s emphasis on produce has helped stay ahead of rivals that include traditional grocers like Kroger (KR) and drugstores such as Walgreen (WAG).
Last year, groceries accounted for 55% of Walmart U.S.’s revenue.
