Aeropostale (ARO) announced Monday that it would be expanding into Mexico this summer.
The expansion is made possible though a licensing agreement with Distribuidora Liverpool. The Aeropostale brand will appear in Liverpool stores and standalone stores as well. The first Aerpostale store is scheduled to open in Sante Fe Mall in Mexico City this summer, reports MarketWatch.
The move into Mexico is likely part of the company’s efforts to increase its presence in areas where it can make sales.
Aeropostale has been hurt by lower sales, higher promotional costs and increased inventory levels, reports Zacks.
Aerpostale currently has 898 stores across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. It also has stores in Canada, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
