Despite the leak of classified information by one of its employees, Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH) has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
Last month, the U.S. was deeply embarrassed after Edward Snowden revealed top secret information pertaining to data-collection and monitoring by the National Security Agency. On Wednesday, the U.S. Air Force said that there was no evidence that his employer knew about, approved or facilitated Snowden’s acts, Reuters notes.
Booz Allen Hamilton officially fired Snowden after he disclosed the information to Britian’s Guardian newspaper. The company also notified the government of the leak.
Snowden fled to Hong Kong after copying sensitive documents. He has since flown to Russia and is currently thought to be in diplomatic limbo in the international section of the Moscow airport, searching for a safe haven from U.S. law enforcement agencies. The U.S. says he will be tried for espionage, among other criminal acts, if he is captured.
The Air Force finding means that Booz Allen Hamilton won’t be barred from contracting business from U.S. defense agencies.
Shares of Booz Allen Hamilton rose more than 1% in Thursday morning trading.
