British shoppers may soon get a chance to shop at a popular American apparel chain.
Last week, American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) began discussions with commercial space owners in London ahead of the launch of new stores in Britain’s largest city. The company has retained a real estate agent to help it find possible store locations, the Telegraph notes.
This marks American Eagle’s second attempt to enter the U.K. market. The company considered opening locations in Britain two years ago, but ultimately abandoned that effort.
American Eagle operates more than 1,000 stores in the U.S. It sells apparel aimed at teens and young adults.
The apparel retailer joins a number of U.S. apparel firms looking to establish a beachhead in the U.K., including J. Crew and Urban Outfitters (URBN).
Shares of American Eagle rose fractionally in Tuesday morning trading.
