This year the convenience store is increasing the size of the free Slurpees that are given away. In previous years, the size of the Slurpees were 7.11 ounces, but this year the frozen drink is increased to 12 ounces.
The reason for the change?
“Moms asked us for cups with lids,” Laura Gordon, vice president of marketing and brand innovation, told USA Today. The 7.11 ounce cups that were used in previous years didn’t have lids, but the 12 ounce ones do. ”That means less mess in the car.”
7-Eleven estimates that it will give away 7 million Slurpees today, compared to the 4.5 million free Slurpees in 2011. Sales of other snacks sold at 7-Eleven are expected to increase as well.
