Floating Hotel Room Will Set You Back $50K

Large-pocketed visitors to the Mile-High City can now raise their elevation a few meters more.

The Curtis, a Denver-based Hilton DoubleTree Hotel, offers a “Lloyd in the Sky with Diamonds” package[1] that features one night in the Hotel Rehearsal, a hotel room boosted 22 feet into the air.

The Hotel Rehearsal[2], unveiled by its creator Alex Schweder as part of this month’s Biennial of the Americas[3], is attached by scissor lift to the top of a van. The floating room includes a fold-out couch and a small bathroom, equipped with a shower, sink, and toilet.

In addition to a night in the novelty room, the 1960s-themed package comes with a limo ride from the airport, brunch at The Corner Office Restaurant & Martini Bar, invitations for 100 friends to Lloyd’s Studio 54, a Tiffany diamond and earing set, and two Apple iPod Nanos and an iPad Mini loaded with classic rock tunes and the StarGazer app. The package costs a total of $50,000.

The package is available from now until Aug. 23.
