Google Glass Captures Its First Arrest

Google Glass 263x300 Google Glass Captures Its First ArrestAs the early adopters of Google‘s (GOOG) revolutionary head-wear, Google Glass, take their new toys out and about, they are beginning to record everyday events, including, apparently, public fights and law enforcement actions.

A Google Glass tester making his away along the New Jersey boardwalk — made infamous by MTV’s Jersey Shore reality show — captured police arresting a man after an altercation during 4th of July celebrations, VentureBeat notes.

While video of the event, which happened at night, doesn’t show the actual fight, it does show crowds milling along the boardwalk and captures the distant sounds of people shouting. Police are then seen pursuing a shirtless man through the crowd and ultimately taking him into custody.

The video is of surprisingly good quality, considering the night-time conditions and provides a preview of a world in which routine daily events are easily recorded by casual observers.

While Google Glass has only limited battery and storage capacity in its current incarnation, future models will likely permit users to capture lengthy recordings of their day-to-day interaction with the world. Whether or not that’s a good thing remains to be seen.

Earlier this year, about 8,000 people were selected to test the first version of Google Glass, paying $1,500 for the privilege of being the first to sport the pricey, high-tech headwear.
