The Hooters owl, named Hootie, has been redesigned as a lean and sleek owl, as compared to the more realistic and gruff looking owl in the old logo. This is the first time that Hooters has updated its logo since the company started 30 years ago.
“The (visual) double entendre remains in place,” Dave Henninger, Hooters chief marketing officer, told USA Today. “We want to keep the tongue-in-cheek wink going.”
The decision by Hooters to redesign its logo comes at a time when the restaurant is facing tough competition from similar restaurants, like Twin Peaks and Tilted Kilt. The company has already made changes to its menu by serving more fresh food, and plans to change the uniforms its waitresses wear as well, reports USA Today.
