Internet retailing giant Amazon (AMZN) says it will add thousands of new jobs at customer service and distribution centers nationwide.
The company announced that it will hire 2,000 new part-time, full time and seasonal employees at its customer service centers, located in Kentucky, Washington, North Dakota and West Virginia. It will also recruit 5,000 new workers for its warehouse facilities in Arizona, California, Indiana, Delaware, Kentucky, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Tennessee, the Associated Press notes.
Amazon’s distribution centers, which prepare, package and ship orders to customers, already employ 20,000 workers.
Earlier this month, reports emerged that Amazon is planning to make a foray into the online art sales business, developing an online art gallery that would showcase works available from art dealers across the country.
Shares of Amazon slipped almost 1% in Monday morning trading.
