Research in Motion (BBRY), creator of BlackBerry, isn’t looking good after its annual meeting revealed lower than expected sales last quarter.
The company is planning to cut more jobs, most of them being middle management. Richard Piasentin, the company’s vice president for sales in the U.S was fired last month. At the moment it isn’t known how many jobs will be cut, reports The Wall Street Journal.
The lack of sales is likely due to BlackBerry being unable to keep up with Apple (AAPL)and Android in the smartphone and tablet departments.
Many comments concerning a promotional video for the BlackBerry Balance could give some insight as to why BlackBerry sales are low.
“Came to the party too late. Stick a fork in ’em, they’re done,” “People are still using blackberries???,” “Had a blackberry but never again. Got the Iphone 5 & love it,” and “Had BB done this right when the iPhone was coming into the picture it might have counted then. But come on, your finally doing what everyone else was doing YEARS ago.”
BBRY stocks fell almost 4% as of noon Wednesday.
