Rolling Stone stirs up controversy with the cover of its newest issue.
The cover of the August issue of Rolling Stone, which has over 26,000 Facebook users boycotting the magazine, features Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
The article about Tsarnaev is titled “The Bomber: How a popular, promising student was failed by his family, fell into radical Islam and became a monster”, and takes a look into the life of Tsarnaev before the Boston bombing through interviews with friends, teachers and neighbors, reports USA Today.
Rolling Stone is defending the cover, and likens it to the controversial cover of Charles Manson, used over 40 years ago when it published an exclusive interview with the mass murderer, reports USA Today.
Rolling Stone is no stranger to controversial magazine covers. The magazine earned three spots in InvestorPlace’s top five most controversial magazine covers of the last 30 years.
