Salsa Recall: Jars May Contain Large Glass Pieces

Stores like Dollar Tree and Dollar bills are recalling salsa

Salsa lovers might want to make sure that there aren’t any chunks of glass in their jars.

Olam Tomato Processors, the company that makes salsa for Dollar Tree and Deals, Dollar Express and Dollar Bills, announced Tuesday, that it is recalling its salsa after glass chunks were found in some of the company’s jars.

Jars of Mild Chunky Salsa with best-by dates of June 2015 and October 2015, and Medium Chunky Salsa with a best by date of July 2015 should either be thrown away or returned, reports The Boston Globe.

Olam says that the glass got into the jars early on in the production process, when some of the jars broke. The company didn’t spot the glass in the jars because its x-ray machines aren’t calibrated to detect glass, reports The Boston Globe.
