Starbucks (SBUX) is partnering with a popular yogurt maker to bring more healthy food products to its coffee shops.
Under an agreement with Danone (DANOY), the two companies will produce a line of greek yogurts and ready-to-eat parfaits, that will be marketed under the Evolution Fresh brand. The items will hit Starbucks locations in the U.S. beginning next spring, Restaurant News notes.
The yogurts will also be distributed to supermarkets in the U.S. by 2015 and in selected international markets some time later. Neither company revealed the financial terms of the partnership.
Greek yogurt has quickly gained popularity with health-conscious consumers with annual sales rising to $7.3 billion.
Starbucks entered the healthy food business in 2011 when it acquired Evolution Fresh for $30 million.
Shares of Starbucks slipped slightly on Wednesday, while Danone rose more than 1% in over-the-counter trading.
