Back-to-school shoppers in a number of states will get a little extra incentive next month.
In order to boost retail sales, many states offer sales tax free weekends in August. Parents, whose thoughts are already beginning to turn toward the coming school year — and all the clothing, technology and school supplies their children will need — can save a bundle by timing their shopping for the right weekend.
Not all purchases are exempt from taxes, however. And there are spending limits above which taxes will be charged. Check with your state government to see exactly what the terms are before your start your shopping spree.
Here is a list of states offering tax free weekends in August.
