Advertising Age[1] DataCenter has collected a list of companies that spent the most money on advertising in 2012. The list is made based off of data collected from WPP’s Kantar Media.

Here are the top five companies that spent the most money on advertising in 2012.

  1. AT&T (T[2]) – Spent $1.59 billion in advertising.
  2. Verizon Communications (VZ[3]) – Spent $1.43 billion in advertising.
  3. General Motors’ (GM[4]) Chevrolet – Spent $958 million in advertising.
  4. McDonald’s (MCD[5]) – Spent $957 million in advertising.
  5. Berkshire Hathaway’s (BRK.A[6]) Geico – Spent $921 million in advertising.
