Advertising Age[1] DataCenter has collected a list of companies that spent the most money on advertising in 2012. The list is made based off of data collected from¬†WPP’s Kantar Media.

Here are the top five companies that spent the most money on advertising in 2012.

  1. AT&T (T[2]) – Spent $1.59 billion in advertising.
  2. Verizon Communications (VZ[3]) – Spent $1.43 billion in advertising.
  3. General Motors’ (GM[4]) Chevrolet – Spent $958 million in advertising.
  4. McDonald’s (MCD[5]) – Spent $957 million in advertising.
  5. Berkshire Hathaway’s (BRK.A[6]) Geico – Spent $921 million in advertising.
