Yelp185 Yelp Gets Into the On Demand Delivery Game[1]Yelp (YELP[2]), posted on its blog[3] Tuesday, that it is expanding its services by allowing users to order food from certain restaurants.

The food can be ordered from a select number of restaurants that are supported by Eat24 and delivery.com. The user can choose to either pickup the food or have it delivered.

“It’s a logical extension to move into food-based transactions, because Yelp can deliver an immediacy or instant gratification,” Brian Blair, an analyst at Wedge Partners, told Bloomberg[4]. “It’s too early to tell how easily this could extend beyond cities like San Francisco and New York, but even if it only catches on in major urban centers, it will drive revenues and more closely tie users into regular use of Yelp.”

Yelp offers the service to those using desktop, mobile web and iOS. Yelp plans to add Android support in coming months.

Yelp also plans to allow users to schedule spa treatments and visits to the dentist, in the near future.
