Tesla (TSLA[1]) is making waves again, now becoming the best-selling luxury brand in California over the last six months.

USA Today reports that the company’s electric car[2] has outsold other luxury brands over the last six months including Porsche, Volvo, Lincoln, Land Rover and Jaguar. Over 4,700 of Tesla’s vehicle have been registered in California over the last six months, surpassing popular cars such as the Lexus GS and Audi A6.

The Model S is an innovative sports sedan that can go for over $100,000, but that hasn’t stopped customers who want a luxury vehicle with an electric range of up to 265 miles. Additionally, the Model S is considered by many to be the safest cars ever built, earning a perfect safety score[3] from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Tesla’s electric car has won numerous awards in 2013 including Motor Trend‘s 2013 Car of the Year and Yahoo‘s Autos 2013 Car of the Year.
