Problems with a computer reservation system caused several flights to be delayed on Monday.
Sabre, which provides reservation information for many airlines, suffered from a computer outage for about an hour. The outage caused flights scheduled with American Airlines, Alaska Air’s (ALK) Alaska Airlines , JetBlue Airways (JBLU), Republic Airways Holdings’ (RJET) Frontier Airlines, Virgin America, Qantas and British Airways to be delayed for about an hour. Alaska Airlines said that it had close to 50 flights delayed by the computer outage, reports the Associated Press.
Sabre confirmed the outage via Twitter, “Sabre is experiencing a system issue. Our technology team is working as quickly as possible to resolve the situation.”
Virgin Australia had to check fliers in manually while the system was down.
