A new smartphone device might soon help make a medical diagnoses quickly, test for possible food allergies, and even root out toxins in water or soil.
Researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign developed the handheld biosensor and phone app that uses scaled-down versions of laboratory equipment. In this Associated Press video, researchers explain how the device could be used as a food allergies app — to test food for people with peanut allergies:
