Francis was ordered the sentence by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Nancy L. Newman after being found guilty of choking a woman and repeatedly slamming her head against the ground. Franics reportedly met the woman at the Supper Club in Hollywood. The woman was with her two friends when they were invited to Francis’ limo. The women, who thought they were being taken to their car, were taken to Francis’ home. Francis was interested in one of the women and tried to lead her away. The woman’s friend pulled her back from Francis. It was at this point that Francis tackled that woman to the ground, choked her and slammed her head against the floor. Newman also ordered Francis to complete an anger management course as well as  52 sessions of psychological counseling. Francis’ attorney is appealing the decision made on Tuesday. He said that Francis will be released on a $250,000 bond and will remain free until the the outcome of the appeal, reports USA Today.

“Whether a celebrity or not, you will be held accountable for your misdeeds,” Carmen A. Trutanich, former City Atty., told The Los Angeles Times.
