A Georgia judge dismissed the racial claims by Paula Deen’s former employee on Monday.
U.S. District Court Judge William T. Moore Jr. ruled that Lisa Jackson’s claims of racial discrimination have no ground due to the fact that she is white. This decision only applies to the racial discrimination part of the case, Jackson’s claims of sexual harassment are still up for ruling, reports People.
“We are pleased with the court’s ruling today that Lisa Jackson’s claims of race discrimination have been dismissed,” a representative of Deen told People.”As Ms. Deen has stated before, she is confident that those who truly know how she lives her life know that she believes in equal opportunity, kindness and fairness for everyone.”
The racial claims made by Jackson have cost Paula Deen some of her sponsors. Scripps Networks Interactive’s (SNI) The Food Network refused to renew Deen’s contract after she admitted to using racial slurs in the past. Smithfield Foods (SFD) dropped Deen as its spokesperson shortly after The Food Network fired her.
