Perhaps if he had asked for more money, that would have taken care of his financial troubles.
A Portland man was arrested Friday after robbing a local Bank of America (BAC) branch for $1, a move that he hoped would get him arrested so he could receive free health care in jail.
Local news station KBOI reports that Tim Alsip slipped the bank teller a note that read “This is a holdup. Give me a dollar.”
When they arrived, police found him patiently sitting on the floor of the bank’s lobby waiting to be arrested.
Police have not said what his medical issues were but noted he had called 911 last week to get himself arrested.
He was booked in the Clackamas County Jail on suspicion of robbery charges.
