daily apple rumors AAPL[1]Here are your Apple rumors[2] and AAPL news items for today:

Swifter: When Apple (AAPL)[3] launches its much anticipated iPhone 5S next month, the handset will feature a new A7 processor that is substantially more powerful than its predecessor[4], VentureBeat notes. According to media sources, the A7 chip will be 31% faster than the A6 processor that powers the iPhone 5 and fourth-generation iPad. Apple is also said to be developing 64-bit variants of the A7 processor. All of Apple’s previous A-series chips have been 32-bit processors. 64-bit chips can utilize more memory compared to 32-bit chips. A switch to 64-bit chips would signal greater video and graphics capability for the iPhone 5S, possibly in anticipation of the launch of iOS 7, which is said to include a dramatic overhaul of the operating system’s graphical interface. Apple is expected to launch its new flagship iPhone and a cheaper version of the iPhone — the iPhone 5C — at a media event on September 10.

Approaching Deal: Shares of NTT DoCoMo (DCM[5]) rose more than 2% in Tokyo trading after a company executive hinted that the Japanese carrier could begin carrying the iPhone soon[6], Bloomberg notes. The company’s chief financial officer told a Japanese media publication that both companies faced pressure to make a deal. DoCoMo has so far balked at Apple’s terms for adding the iPhone to its lineup, but its CFO said that it might change that stance if it could negotiate the right terms with Apple. DoCoMo accounts for 45% of the Japanese mobile market, but has posted the slowest subscriber growth among the top three Japanese carriers. The other leading carriers, KDDI and Softbank, both offer the iPhone.

Too Much: Apple has restricted access to the beta version[7] of its iWork for iCloud app, AppleInsider notes. The company says that it encountered an “overwhelming response” from users of the productivity suite. iWork for iCloud debuted at Apple’s Worldwide DEvelopers Conference in June. The service allows access to iWork documents on both Macs and PCs through a variety of browsers, including Microsoft‘s (MSFT[8]) Internet Explorer and Google‘s (GOOG[9]) Chrome, through iCloud. Apple has made the beta version of iWork for iCloud available to non-developers since mid-July. Users are advised to “check back soon” to see when the service will be available again.
