Because of Washington State’s in-the-works legalization of marijuana, police at Seattle’s annual Hempfest are dolling out bags of Doritos (PEP) at the event — as an educational benefit.
The Stranger reports that the bags each will have a sticker that directs those with the munchies to a website with details about the legality of the new initiative. The FAQ site is dubbed ”Marijwhatnow?” and answers questions such as “Can I get high in public.” (As in with drinking alcohol, no you can’t.)
The Seattle Police Department plans to give out some 1,000 bags of Doritos as part of the educational promotion.
We’ve said all along that this is a momentous period in our history,” Police department spokesman Sergeant Sean Whitcomb told the Stranger. “…We are not looking to have a heavy hand when it comes to enforcement. That said, the rules are the rules, and we want people to voluntarily comply with them.”
State regulation includes citations for minors caught using as well.
