Sony Announces PlayStation 4 Launch Date

Sony (SNE[1]) has announced the official launch date of the PlayStation 4.

The PS4 will launch in America and Canada on Nov. 15[2]. The console will be available to European countries on Nov. 29. The PS4 will cost $399, and alreaday has over one million pre-orders worldwide. Sony plans to have 33 PS4 games available by the end of the year.

What wasn’t announced by Sony was the PS4′s Japanese launch date.

Sony’s PlayStation 4 will compete against Micrsoft’s (MSFT[3]) Xbox One, which is priced at $499 and is also expected to be released later this year. The Xbox one was initially met with complaints[4] concerning its always-on internet connection and banning of used games. Microsoft has since removed these features[5] from the Xbox One.
