Ticketmaster Head May Soon Be Out of a Job

Live Nation is looking for a more tech-savvy Ticketmaster president

Live Nation Entertainment (LYV) is looking to replace Ticketmaster president, Nathan Hubbard, with a more tech-savvy individual.

According to sources close to the situation, Live Nation is looking for a tech guru to take the role of Ticketmaster president. The company is looking for a president that will help push Ticketmaster into a major e-commerce site. It’s also likely that Hubbard is being replaced due to the power struggle between him and Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino. Hubbard’s duties as president of Ticketmaster were taken over by Jared Smith, president of Ticketmaster North America, months ago. Hubbard lead the e-commerce division of Live Nation before becoming Ticketmaster’s president. Before this he was the CEO of Musictoday, which was bought by Live Nation in 2006, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Live Nation is putting a strong focus on Ticketmaster. The company is looking to get in on the secondary ticket market, and has also changed its security in an effort to stop bots from buying tickets.

Ticketmaster made it easier to purchase tickets when it removed CAPTCHAs, which require users to copy a string of letters and number to purchase tickets, from its website in January.
