A new flavor of Frito Lay’s Cheetos was released in Japan that incorporates the classic cheesy taste with a fizzy twist.
USA Today reports that the food company has partnered up with Pepsi (PEP) to create a new snack that tastes like Pepsi and even fizzes in your mouth. The product is only available in Japan for a limited time and there are no plans to release it in the U.S. anytime soon.
A new products guru at a research firm says that people tend to like inventive products like the Cheetos and Pepsi mix because of the surprise factor. The idea of Cheetos that taste like Pepsi can attract consumers looking for a ‘mouth surprise,’ a term used in the food industry to describe an unimaginable mixture of flavors.
Even if consumers don’t like the combination of flavors, selling the product for a limited amount of time could be a success for Frito Lay. After all, this isn’t the first time a company creates a product that features an unusual combination of flavors.
