One of the leaders in measuring the digital world released a list of the top websites of July 2013 in several categories including the top web properties in the U.S.

The comScore Media Matrix service revealed that Yahoo (YHOO[1]) is the top web property in the country for the first time since 2008, garnering over 196 million unique visitors in July alone. The Internet juggernaut was followed by Google (GOOG[2]), Microsoft (MSFT[3]), Facebook and AOL (AOL[4]) to round the top 5.

Yahoo also topped the list of the top syndicated ad focused entities with 87.2% of all 225 million July internet users visiting Yahoo sites. The popular sharing widget ShareThis was a close second, reaching 87.1% of all web visitors.

The Media Matrix also measured how much websites were visited in July compared to June and sites with coupon services topped the list, increasing 16% in viewership. The research showed that as students were getting ready to go back to school, apparel retailers and websites that sell school supplies also increased by 16% each.
