With the new fall television season about to begin, the Harris Polll asked 2,286 U.S. adults about their TV-viewing habits.
Respondents to the survey were queried about their favorite programs and stars. Perhaps not surprisingly, Harris found that comedies ranked highest — preferred by 39% of respondents — while cop or detective shows came in second, liked by 32% of those surveyed.
Just 19% of respondents said they preferred reality shows, which is odd considering their popularity with programmers.
Among the top shows CBS (CBS) is the clear leader, placing four series in the top five. Comcast‘s (CMCSA) NBC, by contrast, scored just one top-five ranking series.
So what are the five most popular shows on TV right now according to the Harris Poll:
- Big Bang Theory (CBS)
- NCIS (CBS)
- Criminal Minds (CBS)
- CSI (CBS)
- Law & Order SVU (NBC)
Just missing the top five, were cable’s Breaking Bad and Duck Dynasty, followed by network TV’s Family Guy, Modern Family and Person of Interest.
