Bird Poop Takes Out 25,000 Traffic Lights

A large number of birds knocked out 25,000 traffic lights on Wednesday after dropping massive piles of poop on an insulator.

Japan Today reports that the birds defecated[1] on the Idegawa Substation in Matsumoto, Japan and caused a power outage for almost half an hour in the streets of Shiojiri and Matsumoto. The pile of bird poop was so massive that it clogged the insulator, caused a short and shut down the insulator at 9:35 p.m.

Police officers and motorists had to work on keeping the streets in order for thirty minutes until the power came back. The electric company that suffered the blackout has responded to the incident by creating wires that can withstand massive amounts of bird crap without shutting down the insulator.
