A Wisconsin firm is recalling almost 20,000 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken and ham products due to possible contamination of deadly bacteria.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that microbiological testing of these goods revealed that they might have traces of Listeria monocytogenes. Garden Fresh Foods is recalling about 19,054 pounds of chicken and ham after the FSIS noticed traces of the bacteria in some of the firm’s products.
The testing of these products was conducted at the Food and Drug Administration’s facility. There have been no reports of illnesses linked to Garden Fresh Foods items but the bacterium is responsible for about 260 deaths in the U.S. every year.
