CrossFit Craze Linked to Dangerous Fatal Condition

CrossFit is one of the world’s most popular workout routines but it could lead to a dangerous condition if done excessively.

News.com.au reports that the exercise regime could lead to a troubling kidney condition if abused. Rhabdomyolysis results from overworking the muscles which breaks down tissue and could lead to kidney damage or kidney failure. Rhabdomyolysis is a rare condition as the overall annual incidence is only 0.06%.

The unofficial mascot of CrossFit is Uncle Rhabdo, a cartoon clown with the condition meant as a warning to those who use the workout. CrossFit can be very effective if used moderately, but it can ruin your body if abused. Beginners should be especially wary of not overextending themselves and increasing their risks of getting the disease.
